Jonesboro, Louisiana

May 10,  2005

The Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Jonesboro, Louisiana met in regular session at their regular meeting place, the City Hall, 128 Allen Avenue, Jonesboro, Louisiana at seven o’clock p.m.

Mayor Essmeier called the meeting to order, Mr. Wiley led the Pledge of Allegiance and Mr. Shows gave the Invocation.

The roll was called and the following members were present:

            Mayor:   Don L. Essmeier

       Aldermen:   Randy Layfield, Randy Shows, Aaron Stringer, Terry Wiley, Nancy Zuber

            Absent:   None

Motion by Mr. Shows, second Mrs. Zuber approving the minutes of the April 12, 2005 meeting.  All voted in favor and the minutes were approved.

Motion by Mr. Layfield, second Mr. Wiley  approving the monthly bills.  All voted in favor and motion carried.

Motion by Mr. Shows, second Mrs. Zuber approving the 2004-05 Audit Engagement Agreement with Kenneth D. Folden & Co.  All voted in favor and motion carried.

Motion by Mr. Stringer, second Mr. Layfield setting the capitalization policy at $500 or above.  All voted in favor and motion carried.

Motion by Mr. Layfield, second Mrs. Zuber introducing the proposed ordinance, an ordinance restricting the parking of commercial vehicles within residential areas of the Town of Jonesboro and providing for matters related thereto.  All voted in favor and proposed ordinance was introduced.

Motion by Mr. Layfield, second Mr. Wiley accepting the bids received on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 relative to the Cynthia Street Lift Station.  All voted in favor and the bids were accepted.

Motion by Mr. Shows, second Mr. Stringer awarding the Cynthia Street Lift Station contract to

TGS Contracting, Inc., Minden, LA for the bid amount of $37,275.  All voted in favor and contract was awarded.

Motion by Mr. Stringer, second Mr. Wiley approving Invoice #12669, Cothren, Graff, Smoak Engineering, Inc. in the amount of $7,365 for Engineering Services relative to the 2004 Street Improvement Project.   All voted in favor and motion carried.

Ms. Edwina Diffey came before the Mayor and Board of Aldermen to express her desire to put a single wide mobile home on Walker Road.  After a discussion she was referred to the Zoning

Commission because the property that she wants to put the mobile home on is zoned commercial.

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Mr. Stringer, second Mrs. Zuber.  All voted in favor and the meeting was adjourned.
